A huge fan of funk, disco and of course house music, DJ Yoni began mixing at the age of 15. He honed his techniques over the next three years by spinning funk and disco records. This music is difficult to mix, but in his opinion essential for mastering house mixes.

At age 18, DJ Yoni was taken on by Le Bazar, none other than the top club in Marseille, his hometown. He spent six years there, playing alongside the greatest DJs on the planet (Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Josh Wink, David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Martin Solveig, Benny Bennassi, Antoine Clamaran, Arman Van Helden, Daren Emerson, John Digweed, Dave Seaman, Junior Jack, Jamie Lewis, Tom Craft, DJ Chus and Alex Gaudino.)

But it was his decisive meeting with Nelson Leeroy — artist, producer and co-founder of the label Soul Spirit Music — that gave rise to the idea of forming the duo DJ Yoni & Nelson. Their goal was to produce soulful, electro and dance sounds.

Signing with Soul Spirit allowed DJ Yoni to bring his talents as DJ/producer to joint projects with Nelson Leeroy. The duo’s first releases include “No More, No More Lies,” featuring Leee John, the singer of Imagination, “Turn Me On” with Sweet Lee and Elsa, and “2 Night's The Night.”
